Setup Help

I have set up an app in facebook.
Not sure what the app id or secret is for but I set one up
What does the app do online on facebook in regards to the site?
I also currently have this message:

Associate an Open Graph action-object pair for your application: people can publish an article

Can anyone help? I am very confused….
