  • Hi bridgetAS,

This is likely because the emails are getting blocked by Yahoo as spam, typically because of reputation issues with your server. The FAQ includes a list of steps you can follow to determine why emails aren’t being received. If the problem is only affecting Yahoo emails, you can probably jump to the last step:

If you still haven’t found the emails, contact your web host and let them know the date, time and email address where you expected to receive a booking. They should be able to check their logs to see what is happening to the email.

Is the sender a Yahoo account as well?

    Hi Jason,

No, the sender is not a Yahoo account. It is a domain-based email.

Not all Yahoo emails are being blocked. I made 4 test reservations with the same Yahoo email. I only received the admin booking request for 2 of them. I never received pending emails or confirmed on the Yahoo account for the other 2.

The issue seems to be occurring with Hotmail accounts as well.

    Thank you!

You seem to be running afoul of Yahoo and Hotmail anti-forgery rules. I’m surprised Gmail is not giving you grief, it’s normally the worst one. Are you using an SMTP plugin? Or just sending with the WordPress default mailer? Who is your domain-based email provider?

    Hi Jason,

    – So far I’ve not had issues with Gmail – just a little delay at times.
    – The site is using the default mailer.
    – The email provider is a local hosting company.

Then my best guess for you is you need to add an SPF Sender to your zone file.

It’s an intermediate-level configuration, your host may be able to help you if those instructions aren’t clear.

You might also want to look into using an SMTP plugin, just to remove some variables from your setup.

    Hi bridgeAS,

As Jason said, this is almost certainly related to the mail server configuration that is being used to send the emails. I’d recommend you get in touch with your host, let them know the exact date and time of an email that should have been sent, and then ask them for help in determining what happened to the email. Usually, if an email was bounced, they will receive a response that is logged which will include some advice.

Jason, thanks for stepping in and providing some advice! Much appreciated.
