• I have two installations of wordpress on my web hosting account. While updating each one, I noticed that when I click on any of the category links or a link in the archive, it takes me to a page that says “Not Found”. I have deleted categories and re-added new ones, then moved some posts to the new ones and still no luck. The same is happening with the archive, too. I have deleted all my old themes and added some new ones to see if something might have gotten messed up with the others but even that didn’t work. I haven’t done any customizing on my theme so I know it’s not that. Can anyone help me get this fixed? It’s also happening on new installations as I installed into a new directory and the same thing happens, plus the new installation won’t show new pages when I try to publish them. It shows that nothing has been posted yet. I tested to see if the same problem happens on my other two but it seems to be working ok…at least I was able to make a new post on one of them.

  • Did you try updating the permalinks?

Oops…no. How do I do that and I will try? Guess I still got a bit to learn. 🙂

I found out how to update the permalinks and that has not fixed my problem. Both categories and archives do not show any posts. I still keep getting a page that says “Not Found” and I know that I have posts in these categories and archives. Any other suggestions?

I have this same issue…any suggestions?

leadbased: I hate when a site doesn’t let me to leave it with my Back button!

both of you: no, there are no ideas without a link.

Well, I am also having a similar problem. This is my archives page. . .

If you’ll see, when you click on a category or any archive, it takes you to the same archives page. I’m not sure what I did, but I was tinkering with my advertisements on that page (which I have since removed) and must have messed something up. I am not the best with code, but can usually figure things out. However, after two days of struggling with this, I am frustrated!

Any ideas would be extremely helpful. I am using theme ‘pregnancy-double-10’. If there is any other infor I can give you please let me know.

    Thanks

Please, anyone, email me at celebritysmack@gmail.com with any info you can send me. THANK YOU!

This is something I need to figure out soon as I have heavy traffic.

    Delete the Page titled “archives”

    Thanks Moshu

I went to Manage > Pages > Archives > Delete. Now there is just no page there. (Error, we will redirect you.) So that didn’t work.

I’m thinking it’s something in the Presentation > Theme Editor > Archives.php or Archive.php. I know nothing about php and think something is awry in the code?

Would love to email the code to anyone who could help. GAH! T

    I’m thinking it’s something in the Presentation > Theme Editor > Archives.php or Archive.php.

Those are two very different things! And because (as you learned) the online Theme Editor doesn’t have an UNDO button… you should never use it.
Why don’t you just upload a clean, unaltered version of your theme?

Do you think I can upload a theme when I can’t even figure this out? Err…no. lol

Am I completely out of luck?

Can anyone recommend someone who I could hire to help me? I need someone to be my web designer.

Willing to pay $50 to anyone who can fix this. Thx, email me.

    Hi folks,

I am a similar problem where both links produced a blank page, it turned out to be the custom permalink I was using. I recommend you check yours and see what happens.

    Darren.
