• Here’s a silly question. I have a WordPress site for my community of Glen Ellen, CA. I wanted it to be a community blog so I installed the Ultimate User plugin. The next day I thought of Buddy Press and installed that also. Now I have registration for the site itself, the Ultimate User and Buddy Press. Perhaps I painted myself into a corner? OR, can the same password and username be used for all three. The tow plugins have slightly different functions but are somewhat the same.

As the admin I only see the site from an admin perspective. I have no access to another computer so I can’t see what the users see when they dial up my site. I know I may be missing something very simple but I’m getting senile in my old age and haven’t the faculties of you younger folks. Anyway, the nice WordPress Twitter folks think I’m the “Bee’s Knee’s” and my Pierce Arrow is in the shop so I thought I’d post here. I don’t want the Twitter folks to know that I’m not as smart as I let on. TCrowe

  • Hi, TCrowe.

BuddyPress piggy-backs off of WordPress’ user registration system, so you won’t have two groups of users. I can’t speak to the functionality of Ultimate Member, but from what I can tell, BuddyPress might be your single ticket to success. BuddyPress also has its own support area full of people that likely have more experience with the plugin.

PS: The WordPress Twitter folks are usually pretty good about judging character.

Thanks for the sense of humor. I needed that after rebuilding two websites. Yuk x 3!
