WP XML-RPC functionality and Jetpack

When I block WP XML-RPC functionality Jetpack can’t connect to the server. They say it only needs one line in the file (the ability to allow posts).

Is it safe for me to leave this vulnerability protection off so it can connect to Jetpack? I don’t want to get a denial of service attack or any other exploit.
