  • What theme are you using? If it’s not coded to be responsive, that’s a fairly large project.

the unfortunate answer here is: unlikely

there are third party services that will moblify your site but they all cost $ and have their limitations

there are also some plugins that will allow you to use a completely isolated theme for mobile visitors

i can’t vouch for the plugin or the third party service

    take backups before exploring!

    Im using a theme called

    Adventure journal

As you can see here, that theme is no longer very current –

    https://wordpress.org/themes/adventure-journal

So you’d really be best off finding a new theme – as you may well run into additional compatibility problems with an unmaintained theme.

Or try JetPack plugin’s mobile option – see if it works.

    Hi ok no problem.

as iv never changed themes before could you tell me, obviously say i switched themes now, would i have to transfer everything from my old theme to my new.

    or isit automatic.

as iv done alot of work on my website and it would take so long to redone on a different theme.

You won’t lose any content – it’s automatic – but you will need to redo settings and options in a new theme. You can switch back to your old one too, if you’re not happy with a new one.

what do you mean settings and options?

what kind of settings and options? sorry im new to wordpress so not sure what you mean by which settings it changes

Re-select your menu and set widgets usually. Other things like header images or other theme options.

how do i know which themes are made for mobile friendly?

Pretty much all current themes are. They typically say “responsive” or mobile friendly in the theme description as well.

Testing the theme will always be your best bet. I personally like themes which are responsive for mobile friendly sites

Is the Earth Theme mobile friendly? I am doing volunteer work for a non-profit animal rescue center and have been tasked with trying to get their website working properly.

They paid a web designer well in 2013 – modifications were done to the Earth Theme that actually seem to me to take away from the original template, and the slider no longer loads if you navigate away from the home page and try to go back.

I am completely new to Word Press and the designer is telling me things like copyright notice (footer) was not available in that theme originally, which I can see it was and that the theme is not mobile friendly, but “can probably be made MF he’s sure”.

Can someone help me know what is fact and what is fiction. I do not want to invest any more of this organizations money with a designer unless it is necessary.
