Redirect with no plugins

Hi,

I use the plugin to get redirected to http://wha2wear.forumchitchat.com/ on the page that http://www.wha2wear.com/wardrobe.

However, if you check this page from a mobile device it doens’t look great because we are using the dudamobile plugin and this redirect plugin doesn’t work well in it. We’ve been told by the websitetoolbox team that using the plugin or manually adding the redirect script to WordPress sites, the redirect script gets added to every page in the site.

So I think we need to use a function or another way to redirect. I’ve looking in the documentation and I found this function:

´<?php
wp_redirect( $location, $status );
exit;
?>´

But I’m not sure how to use it or if it’s the solution. Could you help me, please?

Just use a redirect via .htaccess instead of a plugin. Add this to your .htaccess file:

Redirect permanent /wardrobe http://wha2wear.forumchitchat.com/

It’s in your domain’s root directory, make sure you have your FTP client set to show invisible files.

If you still can’t find it, just create a new file called .htaccess with that content.

I don’t have an FTP client…should I install Filezilla or something like that?

Yes, you’ll eventually need an FTP client to interact your files: https://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients

And, a plain text editor to modify them: https://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_Files#Using_Text_Editors

Your redirect rule should be placed before your #BEGIN -> #END WordPress rules. Try:

It needs to be somewhere outside of the If declarations.

Try:

Thanks a lot, guys but the behaviour is still the same: when opening http://www.wha2wear.com/wardrobe in a mobile phone’s browser, the plugin Duda Mobile doesn’t mobilize the page but it redirects to mobile.dudamobile.com/site/wha2wear1?…etc so it’s not the link that we want to appear, which is http://wha2wear.forumchitchat.com

Should we just get rid of Duda Mobile plugin? 🙁

You might have to, but I recommend asking at http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/mobile-website-builder-for-wordpress-by-dudamobile first to see if there’s any way around it.
