One year ago, you announced in this blog post https://sendpress.com/blog/1586/ the availability of the post notifications feature. In that post, you promised “a more comprehensive set of guide for using post notifications” in your KB. Unfortunately, this is not available yet – or did I miss it?

Since this feature is only available in the pro version I cannot test it. To evaluate the suitability of sendpress for our website I need to know:

    – Can we force the user only to choose the “weekly” notification format?
    – Are all the notifications sent out at the same time?
    – Can we easily modify the format of the notification, e.g. add banners?

What we want to achieve is a weekly newsletter that includes the titles of all new posts since the last newsletter. Is this possible?

Documentation certainly isn’t our strong suit, but I will try to answer your questions.

You cannot force the user to choose weekly, but you can set the default. They still have the option to change it later.

    – Are all the notifications sent out at the same time?

Notifications are sent out based on the schedule that you set in your preferences. here is a screenshot of those settings.

Post notifications is lagging behind a little bit in that it still does not support our new template system. It is definitely on our list for a major overhaul and we have lots of really great improvements planned.

My best advice would be to take the extra two or three minutes and send or schedule the email. With a short code like this You can automatically add content to a newsletter without taking any time to style it. It would give you more control and better performance as well as the ability to use the new templates. Additionally, post notifications is only something you can enable for new sign ups, so if you already have a list, post notifications may not be a great option anyway.

Thanks, itdoug, for the quick answer.

However, we really want an automated newsletter that is fully controlled by us, but includes automatically all posts since the last newsletter. For the “sp-recent-posts” shortcode we would have to manually count the number of recent posts to include and insert this number there. This is not an option.

So, I’m afraid sendpress does not meet our requirements. Thanks anyway.
