Unknown link only on mobile view
-
Hello,
I have an unknown link showing up below my logo only my mobile site. Everything is fine on my desktop. Below my logo I see “Phentermine 37.5 buy online.” When you click my logo my website reloads but when you click “Phentermine 37.5 buy online” it redirects to piggybackrance site.
I have checked files in the my wordpress theme and do not see anything added. I have also run several malware checks which come back clean.
Not sure what else I should do. Any help would be appreciated.

mobile site? which plugin r u using?
I’m sorry to be the one to tell you but your site is hacked. The best solution is to restore your files and database from a date prior to the hacking damage.
If that is not possible then you will want to pick one or more of the following repair articles and follow it: http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_My_site_was_hacked

http://smackdown.blogsblogsblogs.com/2008/06/24/how-to-completely-clean-your-hacked-wordpress-installation/There are folks here on the forum that can help you if you have questions.
how do restore files to a previous time? I only now how to restore blog entries. Thanks.
You would restore the files from a backup. If you have not made any backups, it’s possible your hosting company has made regular backups. Depending upon how the backups were made, you may or may not have a database backup. Obviously, you would be better off with both the files and database backups.
Have you determined a date when you think the damage occurred?
Thanks wslade. Yes, I did figure it out. January 23. But I do not have a back up. So it looks like I will have to do a fresh install. Site is not too complex but will I need to rebuild the site from the start? I am thinking that I will have to in order to ensure that I do not bring over the hack.
Have you checked with your host for a backup? If they have a back up slightly prior to 23 Jan, they will likely also have a database backup. If they do have a back up, you will probably loose any post, page or uploaded image you did between the date of the back up and today.
If you must do a fresh install, you will likely not loose anything. Your pages and posts are in the database. Anything you have uploaded to your media library should be in your wp-content folder. You will need to take steps to assure the database is free of malware if you do a fresh install.
Someone will be here to help regardless of which way you decide to go.
Unfortunately, no. Backups are an additional cost from my hosting company. What steps will I need to take to ensure that there is no malware in the database?
There is some very good information available to you about cleaning the database. You can make that as last steps after you replace all the files.
Have you made any modifications to files in the WordPress core, your theme or any plugins?
Thank you. I have not done anything to my site yet.
OK, I would suggest you download everything in your public_html directory to a folder on your PC for safe keeping using ftp.
Then delete your active theme and any other themes you have in your dashboard. Deactivate but do not delete all the plugins, using dashboard > Plugins > Active Plugins. Then delete all the plugins using FTP. The plugins are at wp-content > plugins. Then delete your WordPress core except for wp-content and wp-config.php using ftp.
Install all new WordPress core files but do not over write wp-content or wp-config.php. Log into your dashboard, install a new copy of your old template and all new plugins. When you make your new template active, you should have your site back. You will still need to scan for anything left in wp-content and the database. But the hard work is over.
If you are not sure about anything, ask me before you start the process.
Thank you for you help. I will attempt to tackle this either later tonight or tomorrow.
When I sign in to my FTP I do not see an option to delete anything. Am I able to do the things you suggested in my file manager (I can delete there)?
Where do I access and download my public_html?
Also, when you say delete my WordPress core, do you mean to delete all files except for my wp-content folder (and its files) and the wp-config.php file?
After you highlight a file, your FTP software may have a red X or file with a slash for delete. But I have found that highlighting a file and pushing the delete key on my keyboard works too.
You may want to delete larger amounts of files using the file manager in your hosting panel. Deleting is slow in FTP because it deletes each file separately. When you highlight and delete a lot of files in file manager they usually delete quickly. However, the file manager is not very good for uploading lots of files.
The public_html directory is where you put all the files you want to make available to the internet. Assuming your WordPress is not in a subdirectory, then files like wp-config.php are in public_html.
When you are at the same level as wp-config.php, go to the next lower level. You should see the public_html directory. Just highlight the directory and copy it to a file on your PC. You should be able to see the files on your PC when the download is finished and get an idea if you got everything.
As for removing the core, when you finish, you will have nothing left in public_html except wp-contents and wp-config.php.
Your questions were good ones. Ask me about anything else you are unsure about before you start.
Thanks you.
I do not have a FTP program. Access to my FTP is through my browser and I am not seeing an option to delete once I am there.
In my file manager, I have an overall root folder (which contains the wp-config.php file and other files) and subfolders (cgi-bin, stats, wp-admin, wp-content, wp-includes)
+Root
-cgi-bin
-stats
-wp-admin
-wp-content
-wp-includesSince the root folder contains the wp-config. php file, I can’t go down any further. Also, my file manager won’t allow me to copy the root folder.
Have you tried using file explorer with whatever browser you are using? An example is in IE11 after you connect, View > Open FTP in File Explorer. You will be using the same tools you use to make changes on your PC so, delete, copy, move, etc all work for the remote connection.
If you still have issues trying to work in a browser, there are lots of free FTP clients. You might want to look at FileZilla or if you use Firefox the FireFTP plugin is a full featured FTP client. There’s a lot of tutorials to get you going with whatever FTP client you use.
You will need to have an FTP client you can trust. The file manager in the hosting panel is not suited to large up and downloads. I’d suggest a little practice with the new FTP before you make any major changes.
Your +Root contains everything you want to copy and download.
Ok. I will definitely be practicing first. I will keep you updated. Thanks.
