Arbitrary list of posts on the homepage

    Hello.
    Is there a {plugin, theme, hack} that lets WordPress displays an arbitrary list of posts on its homepage?
    Example:
    a blog is made of 100 posts and (normally) the latest 10 are displayed… the user should be able to choose a list of (let me say) 10 posts to display on the homepage that are not necessarily the latest 10.
    A customer asked this particular question so before starting to code… let me try asking here.
