Vine Embedding Won't Work

    hey everyone. I’m having issues embedding Vine videos on one of my sites (other sites work fine). I’ve followed all the instructions here:

    I’ve tried pasting the Vine URL (i.e. https://vine.co/v/OFYzLBrL6bH) on a line by itself and removing any formatting, but it doesn’t seem to embed. Sometimes after pasting it appears that the video starts to embed, but then just reverts back to text. I’m truly at a loss and have no clue what to do. I’ve also tried overwriting all the WordPress folders and files via FTP (except the wp-config.php file and the wp-content folder).

    For what it’s worth, I’m on WP 4.1 using the Avada theme from Themeforest and my host is Siteground.

    I couldn’t seem to find any similar issues on the web. I’m open to any and all suggestions. Thanks in advanced. Hopefully someone can help me figure it out.

    I should also mention that I’ve tried temporarily switching themes and deactivating all plugins to no avail. It’s the weirdest issue

    my issues are with Vine; not YouTube. I can’t embed Vines. I’ve created a test post so you can see.

    Could you post a link to a page where it’s not working?

    I’d also still suggest that you deactivate ALL plugins and switch to a default theme – just to rule out other complications.

    Here is a link to a test post. I’ve switched to the 2014 theme and deactivated all of my plugins.

    Are you just pasting the URL or using a shortcode for embed?

    See if this page matches what you are doing – because the one you are looking at is for WordPress.COM sites which isn’t necessarily the same –

    I’ve read that page. It says to post the URL on a line by itself without a hyperlink (which I’ve done). Alternatively, it says you can wrap the URL in the [embed][/embed] shortcode. I tried that and it didn’t work. Here’s a picture of the result.

    It says “failed to embed”. On my local server, I don’t even need to use the embed shortcode. Simply pasting the URL on a line by itself causes the Vine to embed.

    Where is this site hosted?

    I just tried that video on a test site of mine and worked fine.

    Oh sorry. Sounds like maybe you should check with them? Do you have other sites with them that do work?

    I just checked one other site that I have with them and noticed that it does not work either. What might cause it to stop working on their end? Would it be like a PHP version or something? I wanna dig a little bit deeper and see what the root issue might be.

    I really don’t know, but Vine was only added in WP4.1 – so maybe there’s something on their servers that prevents connecting to Vine.
