My images are being hotlinked and I need some advice how to prevent hotlinking while allowing sites like Google, Bing & Yahoo to index and display my images in image search results.

    Here’s where I’m at:

I’m running W3 Total Cache and Max CDN.
I have an images sitemap submitted to Google Webmaster tools.
The image sitemap points to my pullzone and Google indexes the images.
I am comfortable editing .htaccess file.

Sites are not hotlinking images from my pullzone URLs, as I have taken care of that through Max CDN and their Whitelist feature.

But sites are hotlinking to my images through my regular website URLs that are my regular WP permalinks. For example:

    http://www.domainname .com/aquarium-pictures/bamboo-shrimp-head-extreme-closeup.jpg

Do I have a duplicate content situation here? Is there any way to prevent hotlinking to my regular WP permalinks but keep the images controlled only with the CDN?

I hope I am asking the questions properly. Any insights would be appreciated.

    I have some another questions….

    1. If I have W3 TC and Max CDN set up properly, what are the URL’s supposed to be on an image sitemap?

    2. Should the URL include the pullzone URL or the website domain name?

    3. Should “Add canonical header” be checked?

    4. What does the “Rejected user agents” field do?

Thanks in advance for all your help

Did you find a solution to this? I’m also interested to know how to set this up.
