• Hi everyone,

Okay i have had a look at past posts and I have had a look at wordpress instrction manual, but i find the answers to my question too complicated to understand as i am a noob.

I have set up my website with wordpress as the host, but i have come to realise that i cannot download plugins that i need (e.g. forum plugin and google sitemap generator plugin), so i think its time for me to get a dedcitae server, i have chosen bluehost.

Now i know i have to backup my database and something else, but i dont know what mysql or ftp or any other jargon the wordpress instrcutions use.

so can someone, write a step by step, extra noob friendly (as i dont understand the intrcutions wordpress has written), on what and how (literally step by step guide) i need to do.

    thanks
    josh

could i not just go to ‘manage’ ‘export’ then save and donload, or is there something else i need to save aswell?

i am new to this and im affraid i need the instructions dumbed down.

any help would be great please.
    thanks

Doing the Manage Export and Import is certainly one avenue.

okay thanks, one last thing before i can tag this as resolved.

is this all i need to do to transfer my website?

with this method, what is and what is not saved to my desktop? (im just trying to find out what parts of my website i will have to start from scratch again)

    thanks,
    josh

I don’t believe there’s anything on your desktop related to WordPress unless you keep backup on your local machine.

    1. Export from your old blog
    2. Install WordPress on new host
    3. Import using export file from step 1.
