good work max.
that plugin looks good, i might give that a try.
I currently have 2 other custom field plugins, let me see
Get Custom Field Values:
http://www.coffee2code.com/wp-plugins/#getcustom
and Custom Field GUI
http://rhymedcode.net/projects/custom-field-gui
which apparently comes from the same author as the plugin you mentioned. I will have to compare features.
so for fields like “small_pic” you have just told the Bloggers exactly what size image to put, so it fits the design?
looks sharp, only thing I’d recommend is a little more separation or distinction between the columns on the front page, that white serif subheadline text on black background seems a little close-together column to column, for me it makes the middle areas a bit tough to follow.
yeah worked with these two plugins, though only custom field GUI is from the same dude that currently works on that custom write panel plugin. hope he gets it done soon!
the pics could actually have any size as i nested them in divs where the img css has 100%. but for the releases i told them to downsize the art on the exact pixel-size for them to show up clean. they have to be nice as they are their main product. there is still differences in how good browsers render downscale images. in other parts of the site (like news) they do get downscaled.
like the music?
There’s music?
Kidding, but it wasn’t as easy to find as you might expect. You might want to get a Flash playlist player on the homepage. Also might want to think of tweaking where it says “Latest Releases” to Make it Super-Obvious that there are free streaming audio files inside those links — like, “Connaisseur Radio [on the air now button]”. Right now, it kind of looks like it would be a record store (all the CD shaped images), but doesn’t necessarily look like it would be or contain a music player. I think for a label site you might want something Playable (if not autoplay) on the homepage, 0 to 1 clicks.
I probably clicked 10 links before I saw a music player, multiple header links. Just sayin’, unfamiliar user here. Granted they were 1 click from the homepage but it was the last column of links I checked out (the left). I went into the Artists pages and didn’t necessarily see the audio player there.
if you’re using Podpress try the XPSF player that comes with it. There’s other options too like bigcontact dot com feedplayer, or odeo, or some free generator site, or your own custom flash. If you’re just using the 1 Pixel Out player, it is incorporated into PodPress which does more.
Or, see that little bullet-point next to “Simon Baker – The Fly” on the homepage? Make that the little tiny del.ico.ious-mp3-player plugin. It’s an itty-bitty mp3 Play button that loads up right there on the spot.
Yeah, the music’s pretty cool. I like creative different stuff.
keep it coming
Just a usability note. Under that Last releases the “thumbnails” are all over 50KB!!! Do something about it, on a fast cable connection had to wait too long for them to appear. An average visitor will run away, will not wait.
hm…i actually dont want people to listen to the music in the teaser posts, better to have em on the release page where they can see the artwork and read about the release. though for pages yet to come i might use this litte nifty del.ico.ious-mp3-player plugin. i guess you can customize it and all?
thinking about adding sound to the flash banner on the main site, autostart i guess. told the peolple from the label that in my opinion a record label website has to be loud, but they didnt agree…mybe in the future…
u say it looks like a record store…one day they want to sell their music on their own website, instead of just linking to beatport and kompakt, but i told em that would be step two. i imagine implementing a store can be very difficult.
