Just an additional explanation: in the high part of the homepage, I woulod like to slide CUSTOMIZED IMAGE not linked to posts.
In the low part of homepage, it’s ok latest posts.

Ideally, I would like to add slider content, image and text, that is not related to a blog post. And also add links to pages within that slider text.
Is this possible?
I’m trying to upload a ” featured image” or several images to the slider on the main page , what am i missing here?( This is probably very easily done )
I’m the totally the opposite of somebody who know what the heck they are doing when it come to building a web site. I’m just local musician in VA trying to establish a web presence.

Bryandunnlive, I’m a newbie, also, but I think I’ve figured out the featured image thing…
To get images to display on the slider, you must first create a POST. When creating the post, look to the right column. At the top of that column, there should be something labeled Publish. A few lines down from there is a little eyeball icon. That’s what you select (Visibility: Public, then the box :Stick this post to the front page).
I think that should allow your photos to be in the slider….you’re telling the post to STICK the featured image.
But wait, there’s more. Make sure you added a featured image by looking on that same right-hand column all the way to its bottom. See the words “Set featured image”? Click on that, and then navigate to the photo you want in that sticky post.
