Sharing media across the network is undesirable. WordPress wasn’t meant to do it and it will slow your site down.
You may want to make a special site just for the photo gallery and have everything run from that.

When using Multilingual Press, WP is installed one time but uses for each site different databases. A gallery plugin is also installed also just one time, but can used and configured separately at each lauguage site/section.
If I can specify for such a Gallery plugin the folder in which the pictures are stored, then I only would have to use the same path in such a config for each language section/site.
However, in the free Picture Gallery plugins I did not see such an option, but it might be possible, that a payware Gallery plugin could have such an option.
So, I’m asking here if someone knows a fine Gallery plugin with such an option.

Well this is why Multisite sucks for multiple languages. There isn’t one.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/network-shared-media/ is the most decent plugin for it and I don’t think it does what you mean.

Yes, I have installed that plugin; unfortunately, almost all gallery plugins I tried, do not see the extra option that plugin offers – sharing media.
Well, OK, I’ll have to accept that.
I’ve another question for a gallery, but will open a new thread for that.
