• I had been having trouble with a plugin “Back up Buddy” I ended up deactivation it. Then tried another wp plugin for back ups. It failed to install and I tried a different one. I failed also.

I then just tried to install a simple plugin in to see if it would work. Any plugin I try to install fails.

What can I check or do to get plugins to install?

    Thanks

Every time I try to install something I get this:

    Downloading install package from https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/backupwordpress.3.1.1.zip…

Download failed. Failed to write request to temporary file.

    Return to Plugin Installer

Might be file permissions on the server

    I am the only user.

That doesn’t make any difference – if the files or folders aren’t writable, they won’t allow a plugin to be installed.

You may want to ask your hosting company for help with this.

“User” in that article isn’t the same thing as WordPress user if that’s what you meant.

I really don’t understand a lot of this. I have always been able to add a plugin whenever I needed one with no trouble.

I will send your link to my host tomorrow and ask him about it. Can’t do it tonight. He’s one of those who sleeps at night and if anyone of his customers sends him a ticket his alarm goes off. lol

If you have any other info I might send him tomorrow that you can think of that would be great.

    Thanks for your help.

LOL indeed. But that’s nice to have 24/7 support!

Yeah, a lot of server stuff is beyond me too, but he should know what to do. Tell him the errors you’re seeing too.
