I tried to access my site today and was greeted with this message:

/hermes/bosoraweb083/b380/ipg.middletonprocom/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/third_party_compat/module.third_party_compat_noversion.php is not a valid Pope module

Guessing it was something wrong with the plugin, I went on to my FTP and renamed to the folder to deactivate it. Apparently the WP theme I’m using (Gadgetry by Themefuse) has the nextgen gallery coded in, and when I deactivated it, the theme wouldn’t function.

    What can I do?

    Can anyone help?

@middpro – The first thing to test would be if your site works correctly if you temporarily switch to a default WordPress Twenty series theme. If it does, then (and as you noted) you may need to address this with the theme author as we cannot reasonably provide support for someone else integrating NextGEN Gallery directly into their theme.

    Thanks!

    Thank you.

I was finally able to resolve the issue. After doing a ton of reading, it seemed like others who have had the problem have been dealing with a possible hacking. the .php file listed as an error wasn’t in the original plugin package.

I deleted the .php file that was appearing in the error message. After deleting that, a new error message appeared when I refreshed the main page. I deleted that .php file as well, and the site has been working fine again. I hope this helps anyone else who has a similar problem.
