[Plugin: CataBlog] Referencing an existing database

Is it possible to reference data in an existing database using CataBlog? I have a database table that includes data for nearly 600 items (not for sale, but this plugin seems the nearest thing to a museum-style catalog/gallery), which I would like to display. Can CataBlog “point” to a different database than the default, or would all of the data need to be reentered/copied to the CataBlog database?
