Hey Lionel,
Thanks for getting in touch.
We’ve got a ticket for this and we’ll find/release a fix as soon as possible.
Cheers,
Owain
What version of PHP is your server running? You can check this by installing https://wordpress.org/plugins/system-snapshot-report/

Server Software Apache/2
PHP Version 5.2.17
MySQL Server 5.5.32-log
The update also crashed my site with the error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STATIC, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or ‘$’ in /home2/nlambron/public_html/ahepa29/wp-content/plugins/backupwordpress/classes/class-hmbkp-path.php on line 74
Is there a way that I can get my site back? http://www.ahepa29.org
For all people effected by this: rename the folder in the wp-content/plugins from backupwordpress to something else. That plugin will get disabled and site will be up and running.
I am in the same boat. Waiting for the fix.
Yes, you need to remove the plugin via FTP – we’ll release a bug fix version later today or tomorrow.
thanks for your patience.
Add me to the one’s affected. Paul de Wouters, what steps do I take to remove the Plugin via FTP? Thank you for the FTP answer and the upcoming bugfix.
Hi Carlos,
Once you’ve FTP’d into your server you’ll want to navigate to your WordPress install folder. From there the path to the plugin will something like /wp-content/plugins/backupwordpress/.
You’ll want to delete the entire /backupwordpress directory.

Owain
Thanks, Cuvelier.
QQQ for thread/group. Is the 3.1.1 release working OK for those who have PHP 5.3.2? Does that fix it, or is there still a bugfix coming for those of us running a lower PHP version?
BackUpWordPress version 3.1.2 is out. It should fix the issue.
The update has broken the Pro Dropbox plugin 🙁
Debayne,
Could you send us a support request through our support system?
Caroline,
Can you ask your host to upgrade your PHP version to 5.3.2 or higher?
