upgrade & update not working

    hey i just installed the latest wordpress on a shared server from domainfactory running php 5.6.2

    wordpress runs well without any plugins and the standard theme. except i cannot update any core or plugin file.
    e.g. i have the contact form 7 plugin in version 4.0.1 – right now it shows me that there is an update available (4.0.3). but when i hit update it says downloading from https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/contact-form-7.4.0.3.zip…
    and nothing else happens.

    permision is set as 755 on all files.
    what should i do – having a wordpress site without update option is not very nice.

    Turn debug mode on to see if its throwing an error.

    You might also try 767, 775 or 777. You don’t want to leave it that way but it’s good as a test. If its a permissions issue then you need to talk to the Hosting people to find whats up with their set-up.

    If you have cPanel and can change your PHP version I’d try rolling it back to 5.5 or 5.4 again to debug the issue.

    i tried 777 and php 5.4 and 5.5 no success at all.
    my provider says that i should uncheck “secure php-settings” and check “allow_url_fopen” – still this does not solve the issue.

    i found out the following.
    on my desktop it’s not working either with firefox nor with chrome.
    on my android smartphone it’s working fine – i can upgrade and update anything i want with all the correct status notifications.

    That might be a Cache or JavaScript issue.
