• I work for Ohio University maintaining the OU Press website. I am wondering if Word press can handle a big site with tons of content like this one http://www.ohiou.edu/oupress/ and how hard would it be to set it up.
I have used WP before so installation is no prob, would i just set it up for individual archive and add all the pages in ??

  • WordPress is not a CMS yet 🙂 The website you have linked to looks like a website, more than a magazine or weblog. So do you want to change that website to be a blog-recent news-magazine kind of site? If so, yes, WP fits the bill. 🙂

Yeh, updating half-dynamic pages will be pain in the …

Well, you want to design out your categories, that’s for certain!
Depending on the complexity of the content, you might want to adopt a secondary classification system like I did (I use “post type” in addition to, and orthogonal to, post categories).
You’d also want to design out where the page layouts change significantly, and make sure you properly wrapper with controlling DIVs or something to allow you CSS customization of the different sections and layouts.
