WordPress admin pages really slow

    Hi guys,

    Been killing myself slowly with this one.
    Been up and down all forums and help links, even posts years back and still no solutions.

    I migrated from a Windows based, WAMP installation to a CentOS server. Ever since then, it takes forever to load any of my admin pages, to do anything on the admin pages takes forever.

    I have completed the following steps:
    1) Disabled all plugins – No difference
    2) Renamed plugins directory and back again, no help
    3) Went back to all default themes – No difference
    4) Increased PHP and WP memory – No difference
    5) Enabled and increased MySQL query cache – No difference
    6) Changed Hearbeat settings to minimal interference – No difference
    7) Enabled compression – No difference
    8) Even did a back up of the Linux installation(including database export) and moved it over to a Windows installation, Windows installation was very quick.

    I honestly have no idea what else to do, I’ve even run out of hair to pull out, moving to person next to me next 🙂

    Please help!

    A local install is always going to be faster than a live server. When you tested in #8 above, were you testing on a Windows live server or a Windows localhost?

    Have you tried testing your site with http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/ to see if that can help you located the culprit?

    I know you said disabling all the plugins didn’t help, but sometimes even deactivated plugins can eat resources. You might try checking it out with the P3 plugin profiler plugin, just to see what’s taking up resources.

    Have you tried optimizing and repairing the database? (You can do this and myPHPAdmin, but there are also a number of plugins that will help you do this without mucking about in the database if that makes you nervous.)

    Sorry about the delayed response.
    Thank you so much for the reply and suggestions.

    When you tested in #8 above, were you testing on a Windows live server or a Windows localhost?

    – I tested this with a Windows localhost
    – Oddly enough, I installed a fresh Centos VM and imported the backup and DB export and it was incredibly quick.

    You might try checking it out with the P3 plugin profiler plugin, just to see what’s taking up resources.

    – Tried this, told me an RSS Feed plugin was using up the resources – I completely removed the plugin with no change.

    Have you tried optimizing and repairing the database?

    – I took it as far as completely dropping the database and starting from scratch, no difference.

    I honestly have no idea what else to do 🙂

    Any help or ideas? 🙂
