Can you be more specific on the problem you are having ?

You can’t edit the URL for the pages.

On top of that, none of the code works at all.

    Yes, I clicked ‘text’.

    So I don’t know what’s going on…yes, I am using a custom theme.

I am getting the same problem.

This is a re-write issue that is common with many plugins and the way the permalinks is handled in WP.

Anytime you make a major update and or change DB you should refresh your permalinks by selecting Custom structure or Post name, then Save Change.

Give that a try and that should clear up your issue.

I have done this several times but had to revert to the default permalink to get most pages working.

My clients website is http://avjobs.co.uk/. I get the same issues as per owenbick’s screen shots above.

At the moment, the Job Manager plugin does not works with “Post name”. In fact I dont think much is working from the plugin, such as the shortcodes as per above which i tried to use to rebuilt the job listing page.

I do have the latest version of WP. The site was working before xmas and now all of a sudden it doesn’t work. I had a continual loop error, I updated WordPress and now at this point. I can get most normal pages to work with “Post name” but not much to work within the Job Manager plugin. When i try to edit the URL name in the back office, it doesn’t do anything.

Your permalinks are NOT set up correctly for your entire site. That’s the main reason you are having difficulty.

I would suggest…disable ALL your plugins. Then set up permalinks and make sure they display correctly for pages and posts first.

If you are still having issues with permalink at this point then you will need to get some asst from your ISP.

If you get it working …then enable plugins one at a time as most likely there is conflict causing this issue.

Job Manager works on WP 4.1 but it needs correct permalink structure in order for the short-code functionality to work properly.

Also, Shortcodes work within the Job Manager structured format not copy and paste to a page or post. I see from the link that someone has set this up correctly in the past and it looks very nice.

Was there a recent DB change or other update that caused the permalink issue ??? That’s what you nee to look into.

Thanks for coming back to me.

I am running now with the just the Job Manager plugin activated. The permalink structure is back now and working normally.

When i visit a job page for example: http://www.avjobs.co.uk/pro-video-business-development/ its gives me a 404. So I just save the permalink structure to fix this. However when i refresh the site it crashes and just shows some random content, basically the permalink structure isn’t working now. I get the impression somewhere in the plugin, it doesn’t like permalink srtucture anymore. But all i have done is update WordPress but that was recent to fix the issue which hasnt. Before that there were no updates. It kind of just happened.

    What should I do?

Here are a couple of areas to look into. Since you were able to get permalink to work again it’s not JM plugin that’s causing your issues.

silvermarbles: You are running an older version of Job Manger. You should update to version 7.20

Ensure you make backup of your DB before updating. ..

Hi Thomas, I have updated the plugin to latest version and still get the 404 error.

I cant get to the job URL’s as before, or to a category URL like http://www.avjobs.co.uk/account-manager/.

I saved my perma settings as per the tutorial in your links and it ruins it. I’m now back to a permalink problem with all pages.

    I am totally lost.

    Anthony,

Please make sure you have EVERYTHING updated before you start chasing problems like this. You have a Theme that also makes heavy usage of permalinks and its also outdated.

    Hi Thomas

I totally agree with that, everything should be updated. But I did try another theme, the twenty fifteen theme which is update to date and get the exact same problem.

    Hi Thomas

Any further advice? The website is a live and the client will be chasing me soon. Sorry to bother you with this.
