This is likely a ridiculous question…

I have a huge learning curve to overcome to use this plugin. One thing I need to do is edit style sheets – for plugins, etc. Is this plugin appropriate for that?

    I am dangerously clueless.

    Thank you

I understand abit and have used – CSS, Javascript, PHP – on a cut/paste level. Will this plugin help me to apply code to the correct files? I.e. help me access the files.

    Hi Toni,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, and no problems at all – there is no such thing as a ridiculous question – in fact it is a great question. We do have a free extension that adds more editor smart functionality to theme and plugin files.
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/cjte-advanced-plugins-editor

It does not auto-detect like which plugin files are the CSS files. The add-on simply expands on the standard WordPress Plugins editor.

You can always override the plugin CSS stylesheet files using CJT code blocks. For example outputting the CJT blocks in the Footer of the page.

So, to sum up, CJT is flexible enough to provide a lot of options to do what you are trying to do. Hope this helps.

    Regards,

Very good!! I appreciate the thorough explanation.

    Rather dramatic but…
The odd combination of vagueness and complexity that makes WP flexible/powerful is difficult to get a handle on – and easy to destroy with one misplaced character. I am looking for structure and boundaries as I move into the innards of WP, (and without FTP for now) – your plugin and extension will be ideal, as I had hoped.

I am excited to actually accomplish some task – instead of getting overwhelmed before I start.

Thank you for your help, and your work with an awesome plugin.

I am sure I will be back in the support forum, until then –
    Cheers!

    Hi Toni,

Great to hear. I appreciate the support and encouragement.
We do hope to better our documentation and add more simpler features in the future.

    Good luck with your learning.

    Kind Regards,

Last note – It looks like there is so much more to this plugin, but I don’t understand it at this point. Maybe an overview explanation for dummies? Example features, functions and elements that you will be able to change or add? Like the extensions do?

I feel dangerous and am going for the extensions too.

    You’re welcome and thanks again.
    Cheers!

    Hi Toni,

These are all great advice and I thank you for mentioning this.
I will try to create a simple guide with examples in the future.

    Thanks again.
