Referrer Links not showing

This has been a problem I have seen on all 3 word press sites I run and never was able to find an answer.

The referrer data is a hit or miss. A good example is today- I have a message with a link shared on Reddit. Over 100 page views came in but not a single one showed up as a refer link. Just a few days ago I posted the same exact message on the same thread- nothing different at all and it showed each one as a referrer.

Craigslist.. various blogs.. its the same.. sometimes it shows? other times it doesnt. Would be great to actually trust the data but its just not the case. Very VERY annoying…

edit- fwiw? I run 3 wordpress sites. Just to make this more interesting? Ill post the same exact link and simply switch the site to refer it too and surprise! On one of my word press its it shows the referrer link but on one or both of my other sites? nothing. Its a random issue. I have also had it work one day and the same exactly link 24 hours later wont show.

not that it matters but the site I care the most about it my new one http://www.coolworkideas.com the other 2 I have given up months ago on this issue and just use google analytics to get a true account of backlinks
