Why not take a deep breath and relax a bit, Sunshine person?
The documentation for the free theme is quite limited compared to other free themes. I used Asteria Lite before – and it has a comprehensive manual.
Specifically I could not find documentation for setting up a static frontpage in Hoffman. There are ways around it – there is just noting about various subjects in the documentation.
The manual is a readme.txt file. If you download the theme via WP-admin, you do not get to see that file.

The reason for why Hoffman doesn’t have an extensive manual is that it doesn’t have a lot (barely any) custom functionality. It relies on standard WordPress functions for pretty much everything, which means that you can find instructions (including instructions on how to set a static front page) in the WordPress Codex.
As for the theme specific functionality, that is covered in the readme.txt file.
