• I have been trying to connect the categories to my menu items but every time i add a category to the “categories” in “products” it does not show up in the “categories” in “appearance -> menus” only option displayed there is “uncategorized”.
and i even read somewhere that i can change the default category from “setting -> writing” but there is no other option shown in the drop-down for default category other than “uncategorized”
    Can someone please help ?

  • Ok, you are looking at “post” categories.

Go to the same place, and in top right corner click on screen options. Make sure that the option for “product categories” is ticked, then you will see all of you product categories on the left, which is what you are looking for.

If you added a category under “posts >> categories”, it would appear where you are looking now.

Firstly, go to your admin panel, to Posts > Categories.

Point your mouse over ‘Uncategorized’ and you’ll see a few opens appear below it.
Click on Edit and change the name and slug there.

Categories in products are not what you menu is using. Is it WooCommerce that you’re working with? I’m not famillar with it myself, but I imagine that if you go to Appearance > Menus and this press on the ‘Screen Options’ button at the top right of the screen. It might give you an option to list shop categories. Just an idea.

    Best,

    Florian
