• Hello,

I saw in previous forums how to make the page not viewable; however, it instructed me to go to the dashboard where I would be able to find “publish” and change it public or private.

    I am not finding this!

I accidentally clicked to activate and make it viewable when I didn’t mean to and I just need help undoing it!

    Thanks.

  • From Dashboard > Pages > All Pages
Each page is a row, put mouse in the row, in either EDIT or QUICK EDIT you will be able to change to private or draft

Thank you for such a prompt response.

I guess I wanted to make my whole page not viewable though- not just a post. It used to say website under construction before I accidentally made it viewable. Is that possible at this point?

You seem to be using terms like “post” and “page” which have precise meanings in quite a hand waving fashion, never mind.

What I now understand is that you want your whole website to be no longer viewable to the public on the internet.
This is possible, though it is not strictly a WordPress solution, rather it uses your website hosting.
Your website hosting probably uses the cPanel interface, login to it, it has an option under “Security” for “Password Protect Directories”
This will let you put a password on your website root directory, you will have to give it the username and password the FIRST time you access it from a browser, you will get an option to remember this. The rest of the world is in for a very slow search if your choice of name and password are half decent.

If you don’t have cPanel, or “Password Protect Directories” then talk with your web hosting support.
