  • Both of these features are only available if you use the Visual editor. Switch from the Text to the Visual editor. Click on an inserted image to see the inline image editing tool buttons. For distraction free writing mode, look for the button with four arrows pointing outward. It’s located directly underneath the choice of Text or Visual editor.

    Of course i spoke of visual editor! I’m not stupid…

    I also lost the toolbar and the focus button on Text editor on one of my main websites. While I can see it on others. Cannot fix it.

    I just discovered that this seems to be an issue in the Google Chrome browser.

    I am able to see the inline image editor in Firefox, but I am not able to see the inline image editor in Google Chrome.

    Ditto on not seeing the inline image editor in Chrome – running v39.0.2171.95 (64-bit) on OS X Mavericks.

    Works in Firefox and Safari.

    I discovered that i couldn’t see the inline image editor in Chrome because I have the After the Deadline extension active in Chrome. I contacted the people on the After the Deadline site and let them know. I got a reply back that they are working on it.

    Just FYI: After the Deadline is owned by Automattic, so I’m sure they’ll get it cleared up eventually.

    If you’re not using the After the Deadline extension in Chrome, it may be a different Chrome extension that’s keeping you from seeing the inline image editor.

    Other Chrome extensions I’m using are McAfee Site Advisor, Pocket, Adblock, Send to Kindle and Fireshot. I can see the inline image editor when using any or all of these extensions.

    I hope this helps.

    In my case, it was a duplicated row in functions.php

    add_filter( ‘script_loader_src’, ‘_remove_script_version’, 15, 1 );

    now it’s ok.

    I have a similar issue with Chrome with the inline image toolbar in the visual editor.
    If the image is added to the left of a post or page, when selected the inline image toolbar is to the far right of the window. If the image is right aligned, the scroll bar appears at the bottom of the window (indicating something has made the window much wider), and if I try to move the scroll bar it disappears (probably because the inline toolbar is deselected).
    I have disabled all plugins, it makes no difference, so the conflict looks like this with the theme. I found another report of theme conflict, not with the one I am using.
