No makes no difference, Cloudflare is fine but to be honest i notice no difference with cloudflare and if their site goes down (quite often) so does yours.
Hi,
The CloudFlare.com site having temporary issues does not affect customer sites at all (not in the same location).
I hope I haven’t opened a can of worms here 🙂
Nevertheless, facts would be good.
Not at all, but if cloudflare goes down, because your name servers point to them, then your site too must go down, so you have a third party between your site and the real world.
Hi,
The CloudFlare.com site is not on the same piece of the CloudFlare network. If the CloudFlare.com site has brief issues of any sort, then it does not equate to issues on actual customer sites.
So if the (3rd Party) Cloudflare get an issue on the CloudFlare network, your site will not go down?
Strange because that is one reason i stopped using it as i know my site was up and running, but going through cloudflare it was often down.
Not had any issues since removing from cloudflare.
Maybe have a look again on a test site
Hi,
There are two general causes where customers might see an issue using our service:
1 (most common). Something on their host/server is blocking requests from our IPs(firewall, plugins, etc.). CloudFlare IPs should be whitelisted to prevent errors like 522 or 521.
2. An attack may cause temporary issues in a data center, but all other data centers would still be online and fully operational (in other words, only some visitors might see an issue). We do post updates on our CloudFlare status page about known issues.
OK so whitelist your ips, maybe that was my issue?
Will look into it again then thankyou for clarifying this
Hi,
“OK so whitelist your ips, maybe that was my issue?”
Most certainly could be. It is the number one reason for site offline error messages via our support channel.
