Some help with static pages

I don’t know if this is the right place for this, but I’ll ask anyways. Please redirect me if I am wrong.

I am developing a stativ front page from the information found here http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Static_Front_Page

My challenge is that I am trying to pull information on one page from 3-4 other blog instillations on my site. I make sure that each of the references in the code point in the right direct (at least I think I am). However, the information that shows the listed topics will show the topic headings from the same blog (the first blog referenced). However, when I click the link they take me to the blog I want it to, but a different post.

What I would like it to do is list the top lates topics from one blog in each section. So I should have 3 different lists. Right now, I have the same list three times with funky links.

Is there any advice I can get to fixing this?
