try a few basic troubleshooting steps:
– Flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches.
– deactivating ALL plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
– If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the unedited default Twenty Fourteen Theme for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
okay I tried it. But now the problem is that when I try to save the settings->discussions
The page is redirected and it shows error 404.
I’m really numb now about what to do please help me pass this issue. I forgot to mention that this issue persists when i use twenty forteen too.

Does error logs show any message?
– Check the error logs on your server for a more specific error message. If you need help locating them, ask your hosting provider to help you with that.
No I don’t seem to find any, The problem is very weird. Idk why it redirects to homepage instead of saving those settings.
Do you know where can I find the code for this page, Like i’ll change it to unchecked there itself? would that work

try MANUALLY re-uploading the WP-admin folder from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old folder before uploading the new ones.
– If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong.
Thanks for support tara, all i did was assign default value 0 to the label at options-discussions.php, now the checkbox is unchecked and function and it worked as charm.
