No, we deal strictly with post types.
There’s a decently reviewed plugin for categories, however: https://wordpress.org/plugins/reorder-post-within-categories/
The plugin should be working for all post types that have a menu item (e.g., posts, pages). I tested the plugin with Custom Post Types UI and it caught all those as well.
I suppose if enough people scream about it, we can add categories as well. Several others have requested it, but we’ve asked for use-cases and haven’t received any compelling ones.
