Finding Dashboard after installing WP | WordPress.org

Im new to WP so sorry if this is a stupid question but I recently installed MAMP Pro and WP on a mac as well as a theme I purchased from WP. The problem I now have is that while customising my theme I got a ‘Cheatin uh?’ message so I closed the dashboard and now I can’t find wordpress. Can someone please tell me how to open WordPress after it has been installed on a Mac ??

You should have MAMP pointed to the directory where WordPress is installed.

Go into MAMP and check the Apache tab under Preferences.

Thanks Matt … I have WP installed in htdocs and the apache tab is checked but wordpress is not running is there something else I have to do to open it ??

If you open a web browser and go to http://localhost does anything like a WordPress site pop up?

Hi Aysiu

When I go to http://localhost I get a message ‘Safari cannot connect to server.’

But When I go to http://localhost:8888 I get a message ‘The virtual host was set up successfully.’ with details of my server name and document root. … But no WordPress site pop up 🙁
