1. In the dashboard, under Settings -> Discussion make sure both Email me whenever checkboxes are checked.
2. Make sure they’re not ending up in a spam folder somewhere
3. Double check the email address in Settings ->General Settings to make sure there aren’t any typos in it and it’s going where you expect it to.
4.If all else fails, check with your host to see if they require any special email setup for WordPress. They can also probably tell you whether the emails are being sent from the site.

I’ve checked 1-3 and everything is as it should be. I’ll check with my host (Godaddy)
After further investigation, I’d forgotten to add my email address to the actual contact form settings, so my contact form is now working.
I still can’t get my notifications sorted though.
Aaaargh! I’m still not getting any emails through WP. Notifications, or Contact Form messages. I’ve tried the WP SMPT plugin and that doesn’t work either. Can’t even send a test email.

Check your spam. That happened to me too, and could not figure out where the emails where going, until I checked my spam folder 🙂
