Update notification but no update shown

I’ve seen this topic before but it was never resolved and subsequently closed due to no further posts. Does anyone have any idea why there is a notification on the top of my wordpress control panel indicating that I need to update a plugin? When I click on the update button there are no plugins requiring any update.
