• I am currently experimenting with WordPress on localhost running wamp, trying to get the hang of it. I was adding pages yesterday and all my navigation links stopped working all of a sudden. I had emule and azureus running in the background and wondered if that had anything to do with it but the problem still persists even after I have restarted the computer and also restarted the project from scratch. I deleted the folder the project was in, deleted the database from msql. I am trying to teach myself as much as I can before I start a Bachelor of Digital Media next year.

I am using WP V.4.01 on 64bit Windows7 if that helps. If you need any more system information don’t hesitate to ask.

I suggest that you may have been overly hasty in deleting everything in site.

When you say “all my navigation links stopped working all of a sudden”, just what does this mean ?

Was the text of the links still displayed ?
Were the links there but malformed ?

    Have you reinstalled ?
Does the new installation work properly ?

The process here depends upon you giving us information even if you don’t understand what it means.

The text for the links were displayed and the links themselves were correct.

I had to reinstall wamp and wordpress again for it to work. I still don’t know why the links “just stopped working” other than azureus or emule took over the port. If the links stop working again, I’ll know it had nothing to do with them tho.

for some strange reason the rewrite module in apache modules deactivated itself too… Bizarre. That wasnt the problem tho because i reactivated it again and the site still had broken links. They were there, just not working.

My opinion is that mod_rewrite is crucially important in making links really work.
Will you check and post here the contents of your .htaccess file.
Will you also change the permalinks settings and see what effect this has on links working.
