Post is an image

Hi All

Does anybody know I can set the ‘post’ to be a thumbnail that then leads to a extended entry.

Essentially I just want a punch of thumbnails on the blog index page. Ideally the post/link will then lead to a page with an extended entry.

Any help is much appreciated!
