How to categorize and sort blog posts | WordPress.org

Hello everybody! We are new to WordPress and still struggling with basic stuff.

We are trying to categorize all new blog posts into three different categories. (We have already created them)

We have a drop-down menu called Blog and “inside” we have the three categories.

BLOG
-Category 1
-Category 2
-Category 3

We would like that when people click on BLOG the enter a regular “waterfall” blog, where the latest post of all three categories shows on top. But when they click on each category they see a brief description of what it is and a clickable list of all the blog posts that correspond to it.

I hope that I explained myself correctly

Try this in your category template (http://codex.wordpress.org/Category_Templates):
```
<?php
echo single_cat_title(); //displays category title
echo category_description(); //displays category description
//put your posts loop after this
if(have_posts()): while(have_posts()): the_post();
// your content
endwhile; endif;
?>
```
