    Hey Guys,

I was wondering if someone can help me with the best course of action with a possible DB corruption.

Yesterday bluehost suspended my account and said it was because of a high number of spam comments. However I installed the optimize plugin a few days before and cleared them all out. ( I also have akismet installed already )

They then reactivated my site ( )

But I still intermittently get the database connection error, primarily in the wordpress admin pages.

It looks like I have some corruption somewhere.

When I run a ‘check db’ in the bluehost control panel here’s my results:

    info removed by mod

You can see where the errors are. I tried a repair in the same tool, and it’s says it works fine. But then run a check again and it throws up those same errors.

Can anyone suggest where I go from here? And please note, I’m a real noob when it comes to this kind of stuff so go slowly if using jargon please 🙂

    With thanks,

  • First, you should not have posted your database name and table_prefix for hackers to harvest even though it looks like one or more might already be there anyway.

These are key items that can best be replaced by a backup, if you have one:

_posts] warning: Size of indexfile is: 2805760 Should be: 2804736
_posts] error: Keyblock size at page 2477056 is not correct.
_posts] Error: Incorrect key file for table...
    _posts] error: Corrupt

If you do not have a backup so you can drop those and import replacements, maybe you can find a database expert to fix them if you have a lot of content you *must* try to recover and can afford his or her price for doing the work. Otherwise, you might just have to start over and recover whatever you can from wherever you might have copies of posts or pages and such, and you might also be able to recover some content from here:

Hi asodha. I’m not familiar with Bluehost’s cPanel, but here are a couple of articles on using phpMyAdmin to run a repair on the table:

MySQL Repair / Optimize Tables in phpMyAdmin
    phpMyAdmin Optimize Database

    Hope that helps.

    @ Lee Joeseph –

Please take a moment to see this all from my point of view, as the customer, and not your point of view as the hosting company.

Place yourself in my shoes if you were in exactly the same shoes and how you would like all this handled if you were me?
    – What do you mean?

@bd – I think it’s all fixed now with the help from the hosting company.

How do I get this thread deleted ?

Who were you quoting there? I do not know what you are asking, and maybe one of our great mods here will edit your post to remove your sensitive info. But if not, BulletProof Security is at least one plugin that can change your table_prefix while also giving you some great protection against that kind of thing in the future. Also, it is not difficult to change your database user name and password at cPanel and to then bring wp-config.php up-to-date to match.

Yes sorry, I was quoting you lee…

cool, I’ve never used a security plugin but I’ve just installed one now so hopefully a little extra peace of mind.

    Thanks for your help.
