WP 3.8.2 does not detect upgrade.

    You have the latest version of WordPress.

    In light of the recent XSS attack, we want to upgrade our WP to 4.0.1 to fix this. Unfortunately the update page doesn’t seem to be picking it up.

    The site isn’t currently accessible from the outside, as we’re still building it, but the server does have internet access via proxy credentials (/etc/apt/apt.conf)

    It’s currently hosted on Ubuntu 14.04.1 Server (CLI only)

    Not really sure what other details to provide..

    Backup up first and try a manual update of all files/folders except wp-content?

    I’ve looked into the manual update but haven’t actioned anything yet as I’m still extremely flaky with Linux CLI. I was hoping there’d be a solution to the issue of it not seeing the update.

    Do you have any idea about where WordPress checks to for new updates? It might simply be a filtering issue, but I don’t know where it’s looking.

    I was able to install WordPress (And other LAMP services) easily with get-apk etc so I know it does have internet access.

    I hear your concerns. You could try to install https://wordpress.org/plugins/automatic-updater/ and see if that can prompt the core update.

    Hmm.. Starting to look more and more like it may be a routing error or the proxy blocking it..

    I may need to investigate where it points to with regards to updating/plugins etc..
