Custom Theme Help!

So I just took over managing the website for our company and so many different people have previously worked on it, I don’t really have anyone to ask for help. I’m also new to using wordpress. 🙁

On our homepage we have a box at the bottom with a list of different states. I want to move them out of that box and have them run along the faint gray line that (I think) is our footer. Anyways, I don’t want to completely get rid of the box – I would like to be able to put text there.
