Display content

Hey is a difficult to explain but I can anyone tell me how i can display new content within the same page by clicking on a link or image. For example I have a portfolio section and when you click on one of my portfolios instead of redirecting you to that portfolio page I would like the information to appear above the pictures. A great example of this is http://themeforest.net/item/jarvis-onepage-parallax-wordpress-theme/full_screen_preview/5370691 in their portfolio section.
