Suggestion: default time formats

    Thanks for saving my butt today when the RSS-based Google Calendars all broke due to their API change.

    A suggestion regarding Time formats: some of your views use “g:i a”, others use “G:i”. These are confusing for two reasons:
    (1) people don’t expect to see 12-hour time in some views, and 24-hour in others!
    (2) when time ranges are listed, they display as, for example, “4:30 pm 5:30 pm”, with no dash indicating that it is a range

    I’ve set mine to all use “g:ia”, which results in a less confusing “4:30pm 5:30pm”, but a dash is still needed.

    Recommendations/requests:
    (1) use “g:ia” as the default everywhere
    (2) insert a dash in the middle of ranges

    Hi Peckjon,

    The default date and time formats are determined by whatever a particular site has in it’s wordpress general settings for Date and Time, with some slight tweaks now and then to suit a particular list type. The only other time formats you might see are if the plugin is conveying some info of it’s own perhaps in hover text?

    Basically if a site has for example ‘H:i’ in the wordpress general settings for time then when the plugin is activated or reset then that is what it will use for the default. Some countries/cultures like a 24hr clock, some like the am/pm format.

    This way the plugin hopes to be appropriate for most of the people most of the time based on how they have already setup wordpress.

    Similarly with the space/link start and end times, it depends what list type you are looking at and what sort of events a site has. List type 1&2&4 for example defaults to having a 'to ' before the end date and time. What people actually want depends very much on the type of events they are having. Some folks have multi day events, some only want to show start times etc.
    List type 3 has the end time under the start time ( a dash would ruin the alignment). Some folks put them in a table format with headings – again no dash wanted then.

    Similarly a dash would be wrong if people chose to show the enddate as well as the time.

    So in this case probably less default is better.
