So, are you actually using the sidebar widget? I assume so since the sidebar.php looks sort of incomplete.
If using widgets, I’m thinking your problem is there. Makes it hard to diagnose, also.
If you want I can look at the theme layout to see.
Just click on my username and then click on the contact form on my test blog and send me your blog user/pass.
Understandable if you want to wait for someone else to help.
