    Hi Thomas

Great plugin thanks. I was looking for something to target ad placement by category as well as other taxonomies and your plugin does it beautifully. I understand that your main objective was for placing ad network ads like from AdSense. However, I am keen to sell ad space my website and for that I would need to show ads based on ad impressions and/or future date. I see in your other support threads that you do not intend to add this functionality but to me that’s the only thing missing. Any ideas on how I can implement this functionality?

    Thanks.

    Hi Profusion,
ad reporting is indeed something more heavy (e.g. writing to the database) and increases the number of possible issues a lot. I won’t exclude this as a future feature, but it is not on my top 3 list.

What I do myself and suggest clients who really sell ads is to use an ad server. I prefer Google DoubleClick for Publisher. It is free to up to 90mio monthly ad impressions and comes with many additional features that would – in a local plugin – decrease performance.

And – how cool is that – in the near future, Advanced Ads will come with a DFP integration that makes using it a lot easier.

    Hi Thomas.

Yes that looks, perfect. I forgot about DoubelClick. So you use DoubleClick to determine what ads to show and your plugin to determine where it gets shown on your website? Definitely integrate DFP and update the writeup for your plugin cause I think it will then tick all the boxes and be one of the best ad serving plugins for WP.

I don’t always use DoubleClick, because the effort to set up ad tags from specific networks is easier just using Advanced Ads. But if I sell an ad space for a specific number of clicks or impressions or need to target a specific geo location, DoubleClick is my friend.

One could already use DFP with Advanced Ads, but would need to manage the header tags as its own “ad” and inject it into the header. Don’t know then the native support will be ready, but it already is in progress.
