Blog is CRAZY SLOW

Had same problem when viewing on phone (iOS/Safari). I did a workaround by optimizing the slideshow image files. Saved as JPEG Medium and reduced file size from 1.4 MB or so to 100K. Now site loads fast. Going to have to do it to the portfolio images as well. The slideshow images look fine on phone, but the city/bridge image is a little pixelated on my PC monitor. The others are fine. This is an issue with tradeoffs between image quality vs. optimization for web.

I like the images but will try to go with vector files at some point down the road for quality, as retina etc. gains in popularity for mobile.

I am just starting to use this theme… and really like it. My page load was slow. I added:

Leverage Browser Caching Ninja
Lazy Load for Videos
BJ Lazy Load

My page speed was at about 50; went up to 88.

The way the page lays out… lazy load I think really helps. And I really like the aesthetics. Just a couple plugins to speed up page load is not a problem. I’m happy, myself, with the load speed now.

LOL ~~ How silly of me!! 🙂 I copied and pasted that to the wrong PHP file!! I was like, “Oh dear… his code doesn’t work. How do I tell this helpful individual… his code doesn’t work…” (LOL ~~ looked again… and I copied it to the wrong php file.) OK, this will take me a minute to fix…and try again. 🙂

**OK, I copied that into my index php child theme file… and fixed my oops copying the other code from original to child theme. LOL **I didn’t have to worry about insulting the theme author. 🙂 It was me not following directions well. 🙂 Have a good one! 🙂
