    Hello, Murray. How are you trying to redirect? There are many different methods depending on what you’re trying to do, and this really isn’t at all related to the Cloner itself.

    Do you mean that you want to have mysite.com be a different domain but still show the content in the WordPress database for mysite.com? Probably the easiest / best way to do that would be to use the Domain Mapping plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-mu-domain-mapping/). But you cannot clone sites that are actively domain mapped because they will have the domain mapping settings from the site that they were cloned from. If you still want to clone mysite.com after you have setup domain mapping on it, be sure to disable domain mapping, clone it, then re-enable domain mapping.

    However, if you just want to redirect mysite.com so some other domain hosted somewhere else then you’ll have to do that using DNS.

    If I misunderstood the issue that you’re having, please provide a lot more specific information about what you’re trying and the problems you are seeing.

    Regards!

    Thank you for your response.

    Yes I understand that this issue isn’t related to the Cloner plugin.

    I’m building a network for a car dealer. Each salesperson in the dealership will have their own wordpress website. http://www.dealershipname.com/JoeSalesperson. The primary domain; http://www.dealershipname.com will not be used as such so I want it to redirect to the dealership’s main website; http://www.dealermainsite.com.

    I’ve succeeded in doing this with Cloner before but for some reason having problems this time.

    Here’s what I did;

    1. Set up a new domain (close to the dealer’s name but not exactly) and hosting.
    2. In cpanel redirect the domain to the dealership’s main website.
    3. Using iThemes Backup buddy transferred the first website from my hosting to the new domain and hosting.
    4. Set up Multisite.
    5. Clone the first website with Cloner to make the first salesperson site.

    When I discovered that the primary domain wasn’t redirecting to the dealer’s main website I loaded the plugin “redirection” and set it up to redirect. Still didn’t work.

    Here are the actual sites;

    http://www.grimsbyfordsales.ca
    http://www.grimsbyfordsales.ca/rickallen

    So grimsbyfordsales.ca should redirect to girmsbyford.com

    Any ideas of what might be wrong?

    Your help would be really appreciated.
    Thanks
    Murray.

    We are currently seeing grimsbyfordsales.ca redirect to girmsbyford.com. Maybe it was just a slow propagation issue? Also, routers can cache IP addresses and it can take up to 72 hours for a DNS redirect to get updated all the way through. Since local network and ISP routers can cache IP resolution, we will often test through a VPN or a tool like anonymouse.org to get an “outside” view of the IP resolution and confirm when a DNS redirect finally kicks in.

    From here it looks like it’s the way you want it now.

    Best,
    Andrew
