• I am trying to change the color of my pages (not background) in the responsive theme. I am not an expert. So I was wondering if someone can help guide me through the process? I already downloaded firebug on firefox. I am able to go to my website and right click on my page to hit inspect element. I see the code and color, and I’ve had success with changing the color of my pages temporarily. Of course when I refresh, the page goes back to normal. But I copy the codes and go back to dashboard, appearance, editor, stylesheet (style.css) However, when I try to find what I need to edit, I simply can’t. The stylesheet is only one page long. I barely see any codes. Why? I have the first step right in reference to me finding the code with firebug, but when I go into my dashboard/ stylesheet.css, I don’t see anything. Plus the page is really short. Can anyone help me?

  • In responsive theme this is not the correct stylesheet which need to be update. Follow the below path to find the correct one:

    wp-content->Themes->responsive->core->css->style.css

    You cannot go to this path using the Dashboard. You have to use ftp or cpanel to do that.

    Actually, you can access style.css from the dashboard- which jenksandartt said they did already.

    Go to: Appearance –> Themes –> Editor. Select the theme that you are using, and once it loads, find the style.css file in the right-hand column.

    jenksandartt, CSS changes can be complicated, and often it’s not a matter of just cutting and pasting changes that you have made in Firebug.

    I don’t have super-strong CSS skills myself, but if you want to post the URL here, along with the changes that you’re trying to effect, someone might be able to give you a suggestion or two. (Clearly, we don’t have the bandwidth to help you re-style your whole site, but if you are making just a change or two, you might find help for that.)

    Thanks for your responses. When I get to the styles.css page. At the top-right, it says, select theme to edit. There’s a drop down box that says responsive. (I have the responsive theme) But there is a drop down box that says, twenty-eleven, twenty thirteen, twenty fourteen, and twenty twelve. I picked responsive as the theme to edit, but that page is very short, with barely nothing to edit. But the rest of those choices I mentioned above has a lot to edit. Which one should I edit if my responsive doesn’t have much to edit?
